Aqua Expeditions’ is committed to supporting the sustainable management of natural resources in the Amazon. As part of this, they joined forces with the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve to assist them with the conservation and management of the Taricaya turtle population.
Working within the reserve’s guidelines, Aqua Expeditions recently built an artificial beach at their embarkation lounge in Nauta to incubate Taricaya eggs donated by the reserve. They hope to involve guests as much as possible throughout the process. To date, a total of 202 turtles have been successfully hatched from this incubator.
