138-guest Yorktown

2012 Voyages in America and Canada aboard the 138-guest Yorktown

We are pleased to offer a collection of nine special voyages to explore America’s great coastal waterways aboard the Yorktown, an intimate 138-guest vessel with 69 exterior cabins.  Purposely built for coastal cruising, the Yorktown is certified by the U.S. Coast Guard.  The ship flies the American flag and is staffed by experienced American officers and crew. With a draft of 8 feet, it can navigate in secluded waterways and dock in charming small towns such as Shippagan, New Brunswick and Boothbay Harbor, Maine, inaccessible to larger vessels.

Rediscover American history while sailing from the whaling harbor of Gloucester, Massachusetts, around Nova Scotia to Quebec City and Montreal in late spring 2012.  Summer months feature five itineraries among the Great Lakes with ports of calls ranging from the famous Niagara Falls and Mackinac Island to the intimate Sturgeon Bay, a charming town on Wisconsin’s striking Door Peninsula. Fall voyages from Nantucket include Martha’s Vineyard and go up the Hudson River to West Point. In late fall, the Yorktown will sail out of New Orleans to explore the historic cities and islands of the Gulf Coast

The Yorktown has a large sundeck and a spacious lounge for lectures and social gatherings.  The lounge and the dining room, big enough to accommodate all guests at one sitting, feature large panoramic windows to enjoy unobstructed views of the passing scenery. The ship’s cuisine features American culinary traditions and specialties.

Each voyage will be accompanied by a guest lecturer who will assist guests in rediscovering American history and cultural legacy through presentations and informal discussions. These presentations will include a variety of topics ranging from Colonial History, geology of the Great Lakes, art history to appreciate the Hudson River School and nature biodiversity.

Cruise fares start at $3,995 per person, double occupancy. The fare includes shore excursions, all meals aboard ship, inclusive of soft drinks and wine or beer with lunch & dinner, educational program of lectures and discussions by accompanying study leaders, port and embarkation taxes, and gratuities to guides and drivers.
