Lindblad's Islander is a versatile 164-ft. twin-hulled vessel with 24 spacious cabins comfortably accommodating 48 guests. She is a sturdy expedition ship designed for year-round discovery and active exploration of the Galapagos. Both the dining room and the lounge feature full-height windows, providing a beautiful panorama of these magical islands. The Islander carries a fleet of four Zodiacs capable of launching at a moment's notice to view wildlife and to make remote landings. The ship carries a complete range of snorkeling gear including wetsuits, kayaks, Splash-Cam and video microscope. A video chronicler is also on board shooting, editing, producing and duplicating a unique video/DVD of your trip. Meals are served in one seating with unassigned tables for an informal atmosphere. Lunch is typically served buffet style while dinner generally has three choices available including one meat or poultry, one seafood, and one vegetarian or healthy choice selection. The public areas include a lounge with bar and self-service 24-hour beverage and snack station; plasma screens for films, slide shows, presentations, discussions and recaps; a library with reference volumes and other books of the region; two e-mail stations where guests can receive and send e-mail on the personal shipboard account; fitness center with elliptical trainer, treadmill and bike; small gift shop; an open deck space for lounging in the sun or shade; and the open bridge policy which welcomes guests at anytime to visit the duty officer and observe navigation first-hand. Islander has a certified massage therapist on board who provides a full range of massage and other wellness treatments and also leads stretch and exercise classes. All cabins are above the waterline with outside facing windows. Category 4 and 5 cabins feature outside terraces. Each has private facilities, intership telephone, radio and climate controls. Laundry service is available, and a full-time Ecuadorian doctor is on board as part of the crew.
