Region: France
Location: Champagne Region
Capacity: 12 Guests
This stunning, 12-passenger barge, crown jewel of the French Country Waterways collection, has been garnering rave reviews ever since she began to glide along the canals in 2005. Named for the company president's daughter, Adrienne is one of the most beautiful barges of its size cruising the canals of France. Richly paneled in a lovely swirling maple, Adrienne was exquisitely decorated by an award-winning designer from Illinois who created a floating "Park Avenue penthouse" of a barge. The six identical suites are more reminiscent of a cozy Four Seasons hotel room than a barge sleeping cabin. Heated towel racks, good shower stalls, and pretty bathroom fixtures provide every comfort for guests. Very stylish yet comfortable deck furniture creates an especially attractive space for alfresco dining or just watching the passing scenery with a glass of locally produced vintage. In 2012, Adrienne will cruise through the charming Alsace region during the spring and into July, then move to Champagne for the remainder of the summer and autumn months where she floats along the Canal de l’Aisne a la Marne, touring many of France’s most celebrated champagne houses and premier cru villages. History buffs will appreciate the attention to the region’s memorials to the Great War as well, including visits to the historic Chemin des Dames and the American Cemetery and battlefields at Belleau Woods. Foodies will find a highlight to be dinner ashore at the 1-star Michelin restaurant Le Cerf for Alsatian cruises, and the 2-star Michelin restaurant l’Assiette Champenoise in Champagne. Frontiers is honored to offer Adrienne to just two travelers preferring a deluxe experience or an intact party of 12 who want the "best" in canal barge cruising.
Meeting Point: Sunday afternoon at a hotel in Strasbourg for Alsace cruises, and at the Hotel Rafael in Paris for Champagne cruises.
