This charming and distinctive 5-passenger barge oozes with the atmosphere of a floating English country cottage transplanted to France. Previously owned by the chic Provencal cosmetics company l'Occitane, Fandango (then moored in Paris) was used as a unique showcase for their new bath and skincare products. Owned and maintained by the exacting standards of Hazel Young, Fandango will begin the 2012 season introducing its new cruise route on the Canal du Midi to float along the UNESCO World Heritage Site under the shade of its famous Sycamores. Fandango has gorgeous ceramic tiles in the bathrooms and lovely new French coverlets in taupe and cream tones on the exceedingly comfortable beds. The sundeck has a Jacuzzi in the bow where guests can enjoy an after-dinner Kir Royale during a starlight cruise. Fortunate guests on Fandango enjoy a “French Food Appreciation” class, learning about the exquisite cheeses (introduced at their perfect ripeness), market fresh patés, and several techniques and recipes from Hazel’s cookbook, A Week on the Water.  Returning guests always have rave reviews for their magical cruises onboard Fandango—it is the perfect choice for two couples together, or a girls’ get-together, be it mother/daughter, college friends, or sorority reunions.

Meeting Point: Sunday afternoon in Toulouse or Carcassonne, either at the train station, airport, or central hotel.
