About Meanderer

Region: France
Location: Briare/Sancerre region
Capacity: 6 Guests

The chic, clever new owners of this extremely comfortable and spacious barge, George and Susan Kovalick, have added a gracious touch of style to this longtime favorite of Frontiers’ clients. At 125 feet long and 17 feet wide, Meanderer is among the largest of vessels cruising the canals of France, and this is simply a superb choice for 6 friends or family traveling together. Unusually good headroom inside, Jacuzzi on the spacious teak-covered deck, stylish interiors with lots of light and space, and screens on the opening windows (practically unheard of in France) are noteworthy features of this pretty barge. By carrying just 6 passengers on such a large vessel, Meanderer offers an exceptionally high degree of space and comfort at a fair price. For 2012, guests can choose between two delightful canal cruises: either the Briare Canal, which was completed in 1634, or the Canal du Loing, which features an amazing wealth of fabulous sights to explore on daily excursions. Both cruise routes include 17th-century towns and villages, castles, and lots of history. Let us not overlook gourmet food and fantastic wine, as serving both are a source of pride on this barge. The owners are keen cyclists, so if cycling is more of a passion than a pastime, look no further! We are proud to strongly recommend a private charter of the Meanderer—it will surpass your expectations.

Meeting Point: Sunday afternoon at one central Paris hotel. Transfer to/from the barge by the barge’s own van.
