Location: Briare/Sancerre region
Capacity: 6 Guests
George and Susan Kovalick, the chic and clever new owners of this extremely comfortable and spacious barge, have added a gracious touch of style to this longtime favorite of Frontiers’ clients. At 125 feet long and 17 feet wide, Meanderer is among the largest of vessels that cruise the canals of France, and this is simply a superb choice for six friends or family traveling together.
Unusually good headroom inside, Jacuzzi on the spacious teak-covered deck, stylish interiors with lots of light and space, and screens on the opening windows (practically unheard of in France) are noteworthy features of this pretty barge. By carrying just six passengers on such a large vessel, Meanderer offers an exceptionally high degree of space and comfort at a fair price. For 2014, guests can choose between three delightful canal cruises: the Briare Canal which was completed in 1634; the Canal Lateral a la Loire, which features an extraordinary visit to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Vezelay Abbey and the famous 11th century Romanesque Basilica of St. Magdelene; or the cruise between Montargis and Paris which includes an excursion to the medieval town of Provins as well as a spectacular private cruise on the Seine through Paris. All cruise routes include 17th century towns and villages, castles and lots of history.
Let us not overlook the gourmet cuisine and the two vehicles that are available at all times. Plus, fantastic wines are served onboard to complete the ideal experience. The owners are keen cyclists, so if cycling is more of a passion than a pastime, this is the barge that best accommodates cyclists and noncyclists. We are proud to strongly recommend a private charter of the Meanderer. It will surpass your expectations.
Booked as: Either charter for up to six guests in three equal queen / twin staterooms or book on a hotel basis with a minimum of two cabins occupied.
Meeting Point: Sunday afternoon at one central Paris hotel. Transfer to / from the barge by the barge’s own van.
