Location: Sancerre Region, spanning Western Burgundy and the Upper Loire
Capacity: 8 Guests
Formerly the La Bonne Humeur, Renaissance is a beautifully decorated, 8-passenger barge that offers a superb option for those who, in the words of the original owner, "appreciate nice things." Cruising in a unique and enchanting corner of the hidden heartland of France (the Sancerre region), this vessel also features many innovative touches such as huge bathrooms with heated teak floors, American-style "power showers," an excellent Jacuzzi in the bow, and the cabins share no common walls so they are practically soundproof. Renaissance has a fireplace strategically located between the dining room and the chic sitting area, which adds a magical touch to the already ethereal lighting in the evening. This graceful lady has become the flagship barge of its British owners’ fleet, and they are extremely experienced and highly regarded veterans in the barging community. Improvements have been a new roof extension for comfortable alfresco dining and now each of the four equal cabins include two twin beds or one large bed. Highlights of the scenic cruise route include a visit to a medieval hilltop town well away from the tourist scene, and a cruise across Gustav Eiffel’s magical aqueduct spanning the River Loire. To-die-for cuisine and stunning interiors complement this striking barge which is as marvelous to charter with a group of friends as it is to make new friends on by booking a cabin or two.
Booked as: Either a hotel basis for 1-2 guests (minimum 2 cabins) or a charter for up to 8.
Meeting Point: Sundays in Paris at the Hotel Westminster for cabin bookings and at any one central Paris hotel for charters. Transfer to and from the barge by the barge’s own van.
