About Saint Louis

Luxury Boutique barge offers customized gourmet cruise in Bordeaux or Gascony.

Overview: This posh owner-operated boutique canal barge has a diverse itinerary near Bordeaux on Canal de Garonne, including a curated visit to noted vineyard community St. Emilion. Impeccably decorated interiors in contemporary French style, the three equal cabins have renovated bathrooms with inspired design and uniquely inviting bedding. Sublime gastronomy is a hallmark of the gifted chef sourcing ingredients and wines from best local producers. Engaging owners, Peter and Wendy Carrington, provide a warm Irish welcome on an exceptional cruise in an alluring corner of French countryside.

Why We Love It: Two itineraries. Close to Bordeaux, tour & taste St. Emilion wines and 1er Grand Cru Chateau while later in week taste Sauternes and Armagnac produced by timeworn methods. The second is a magical French countryside cruise with 12th century hill towns, medieval pilgrimage abbeys and weekly markets.

The Barge: Boasting chic interiors, crew of four for six guests, and a spacious deck, the Saint Louis offers private 6-night cruises on a beautiful canal in Southwestern France. Heated towel racks, amazing cuisine, an extensive wine cellar and open bar, and exclusive daily touring in Mercedes van.

Region: The Saint Louis cruises in the southwest of France, in the Bordeaux and Gascony regions. Offering two different itinerary choices within this region, some highlights include visiting the charming wine village of Saint Emilion, the Lily gardens that inspired Monet, and a 12th century hilltop town.

Trip Specifics: On Saturday afternoon, barge crew will collect you at one location in Bordeaux, Toulouse, or Agen (depending on cruise itinerary) and provide chauffeured transportation to the barge with dinner being your first meal onboard. Cruise concludes on Friday morning after breakfast, you will be returned to one location in Toulouse, Bordeaux, or Agen (depending on cruise itinerary).
