Region: Scotland
Location: Inverness & The Great Glen
Capacity: 8 Guests
This 8-passenger barge has the feel of a floating Scottish country house, with tasteful tartan plaids and a staff that appears clairvoyant in their anticipation of your wants. Divine traditional cuisine is a highlight, featuring salmon, Angus beef, and an assortment of single malts. The Scottish Highlander cruises the length of the Great Glen from Inverness to Fort William through locks, along rivers, and down the scenic Caledonian Canal. In late May/early June, newborn lambs roam hillsides colored with brilliant purple rhododendron blooms. August dates are also a good choice to see the heather in bloom, attend a local Clan Gathering, and hear the pipes "awailing" at the Edinburgh festival. This is a delightful way to explore the Highlands, tour the haunting castle ruins, and taste the "wee drams" of Scotland.*
Meeting Point: Sundays in Inverness at the Glenmoriston Town House Hotel.
