Location: Central Ireland
Capacity: 10 Guests
The Shannon Princess II is a crisp 10-passenger cruiser that explores the monasteries, manor houses and riverside villages of glorious central Ireland on the River Shannon and Lough Derg. Owners Ruairi and Olivia Gibbons overlooked no detail to assure their guests’ comfort when they created this beautiful vessel in 2003. Embodying Ireland's legendary hospitality, Captain Ruairi steers through spectacular scenery while chef Olivia, trained at the prestigious Ballymaloe Cookery School in County Cork, enjoys a reputation for serving "the best food on ANY barge" – no blarney! The five equal cabins include en suite bath facilities in crystal-clean white tile with an enclosed shower stall and superior lighting. The cast of local characters ranges from St. Brendan to the chap who remembers all the verses to "The Wild Colonial Boy" in one of the "singing pubs" that guests walk to from the evening mooring. This is a magical off-the-beaten-path sojourn in Ireland with sublime meals on an immaculately kept vessel.
Booked as: Either a hotel basis for 1-2 guests or a charter for up to 10.
Meeting Point: Sundays in Dublin at one central hotel for charter groups, or the Aberdeen Lodge Hotel for cabin bookings. Transfer to/from the barge mooring via the barge’s motor coach.
