Iguazu Falls

Iguazu National Park, straddling the border of Argentina and Brazil, boasts an incredible 21,000 plant and 400 animal species, but the spectacular waterfalls are the main attraction. Comparable in majesty to Southern Africa's Victoria Falls, the Iguazu Falls consist of up of 275 cascades, spanning a distance of two miles and rising up to 330 feet at its highest point. They are a most impressive sight and can be visited from either the Argentine or Brazilian side. Stay in Argentina at the Sheraton Iguazu Resort & Spa in a guarantee falls-view room or at Hotel das Cataratas in Brazil, now managed by Orient-Express who has made a tremendous investment to restore its colonial luster. US citizens must secure a tourist visa to visit Brazil, and Frontiers is happy to assist with this arrangement, for a service fee.

In 2008, Iguazu Falls was listed as a candidate to be one of the New7Wonders of Nature by the New Seven Wonders of the World Foundation. You can register to vote for your favorites at http://www.vote7.com/. The New 7 Wonders of Nature will be revealed in 2011.
