Cruise Regions: Canal du Midi
Operated by a dedicated and friendly owner with an excellent sense of style and appreciation of quality, no detail has been overlooked on board Esperance. Not only is this evident throughout the distinctively decorated barge, but it also is noticeable within its itinerary components.
Extremely stylish, casually elegant. Comfortable, yet relaxed. These words come to mind when setting foot aboard this distinctly decorated barge. With many exceptional thoughtfully chosen pieces with a flair for design in all the right places, Esperance feels like your best friend, the interior decorator’s getaway. There is one owner’s cabin with a fixed queen bed and one of the most functional bathrooms you’ll find on any barge, followed by two equal-size twin/queen cabins.
Upstairs on the deck are several inviting seating possibilities. One that begs attendance is a beautiful wheelhouse with comfy benches and cushions where you can chat with the amiable (and very funny) owner and Captain Mathias Gilles. With a dash of handsome flamboyance in his spicy brand of hospitality, guests on this “Côté Sud-cover” worthy barge will be chuckling along at his witty barge-life anecdotes. Enjoy the chic and comfy wrought iron deck chairs with their custom-made cushions, or sip a local Corbières in the Jacuzzi while cruising a scenic stretch of this historic canal. A week on this barge is precisely what many guests are looking for: convivial companionship in style with exemplary meals while learning and cruising through the countryside.
Booked as: Charter only for up to 6 guests.
Meeting Point: Sunday afternoon at any one hotel or rail station in Carcassonne, Narbonne, or Beziers (depending on cruise direction).
