Landlocked in southcentral Africa, Zambia offers superb wildlife viewing along with fascinating cultural encounters and excellent value. It is a destination best suited for the seasoned traveler looking for a unique experience in a remote setting. Because it is a relatively large country with the vast majority of its population located in the cities, the safari camps are located in secluded areas that offer the utmost in privacy.
Wildlife diversity is impressive and Zambia has both large concentrations and overall numbers. It was in Zambia that the concept of walking safaris originated as the best way of enjoying the rich flora and fauna of the country's 19 national parks. Birdlife is particularly plentiful and elusive species draw birders from all over the world.
Getting to Zambia has recently become even more convenient with new commercial flights being offered by Emirates and KLM in addition to the direct service already provided by British Airways from London to Lusaka. Kafue National Park
The 8,600 square mile park is one of the largest in Africa. It is predominately a floodplain interspersed with stands of trees. This is considerably populated by lions, but you will also be treated to daily sightings of puku, lechwe, buffalo and wildebeest. Other common animal sightings include roan, oribi, Lichentstien's hartebeest, cheetah and wild dogs. We invite you to experience some of our favorite camps in Kafue and experience the pristine wilderness firsthand.
Luangwa National Park
Actually two parks in one (North Luangwa and South Luangwa), there are over 400 different species of birds that inhabit the national parks, and game viewing for mammals is excellent. The Luangwa River sustains the park's wildlife and helps maintain one of the highest densities of leopard in Africa. This remote area is perfect for walking safaris which provide an intimate view of the Luangwa Valley's distinctive ecosystem.
Livingstone / Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls is Zambia's adventure capital. The Zambezi River offers a variety of activities such as white-water rafting, abseiling, bungee jumping, jet-boating and flights over Victoria Falls. The falls are one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and are spectacularly beautiful. The one mile wide, the 360-foot waterfall can be viewed both by lair or land. For the truly adventurous, a microlight flight over the Falls can be arranged. Travelers more interested in relaxing will find great shopping and cultural attractions in Livingstone.
