Location: Canal du Midi
Capacity: 4 Guests
Owned and operated by Belmond, the four passenger Alouette was completely renovated for the 2008 season, and the transformation from charming barge to Provencal-inspired trendsetter was like watching a butterfly burst out of the cocoon. Enviably spacious and stylish bathrooms connect to two generously sized cabins with beautiful built in features, accented by traditional “South of France” colors. A fantastic kitchen begs guests to chat with the chef while meals are prepared using the freshest of regional produce. Upstairs, there's a lot of great deck space for shaded alfresco dining and watching the passing scenery. The Alouette cruises on the historic Canal du Midi, which is the region of the Crusades and the Cathars, and is now one of the most glamorous barges on the canal.
